K’ORIGINS has signed a partnership with the 100 WEEKS company based in the Netherlands within the framework of the implementation of a project for the empowerment of women in rural areas. In general, this “cash transfer” project consists of sending 8 euros (about 5000fcfa) each week to women from agricultural cooperatives and members of VSLAs (Village and Savings and Credit Associations).
Initially the project will be implemented in a cooperative located in the Abengourou region and 200 women will benefit from this financial support which should enable them to meet household expenses, settle certain debts and eventually set up an activity generating income. This first phase of the project will be implemented in partnership with Unilever (MAGNUM), Cargill, K’ORIGINS, MTN and 100 WEEKS and has started since May 20, 2020.
A call center has been set up on the premises of K’ORIGINS and the activities will make it possible to identify women and draw up their profiles in order to be able to follow them throughout the process and ensure the use of the funds put at their disposal.
An extension phase of the project is planned from September with 2 other cooperatives of the partner TONY’S CHOCOLONELY (ECOJAD in Daloa and ECAM in Méagui) for 400 women.
